DSquared2 Spring Summer 2011 Fashion Runway Show In Milan And Model Interviews

Go backstage with designers Dean & Dan Caten at their DSquared2 Spring Summer 2011 collection in Milan. As they explained backstage “it’s boy meets girl”. There’s masculine things, feminine things and their new DSquared2 Eyewear collection is the statement.

Makeup artist Gordon Espinet used one of their favorite beauty products on the models – Mac Cosmetics Mineralized Skinfinish Natural giving them that perfect summer glow. This girl is glammed down, but she’s still sexy.

Design and fashion shows

Dean and Dan Caten (born Dean and Dan Catenacci) are identical twin brother fashion designers and the creators of DSquared2, a high-end fashion label.

The brothers are known for designing clothes and staging elaborate fashion shows with “explosive energy”. They design men’s and women’s apparel, men’s and women’s footware, fragrances, and cosmetics. A runway show in 2005 featured Christina Aguilera with male models. In September 2007, the DSquared2 fashion show in Milan featured Rihanna entering the stage in an American muscle car, followed by a runway walk.

Their designs have been worn by Britney Spears, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Ricky Martin, and Nicolas Cage. In 2000-2001, Madonna commissioned them to design over 150 pieces for her Drowned World Tour 2001 and “Don’t Tell Me” music video. DSquared2’s design was also featured in Britney Spear’s Circus tour. They have been featured on America’s Next Top Model and appeared in the music video for Fergie’s “Clumsy” and The Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling”.

The intelligent mix of irreverent Canadian wit and refined Italian tailoring, together with attention to detail are the foundation of today’s Dsquared2 philosophy, which has given life to a unique concept of alternative luxury. Recently, Dsquared2 collections have conquered a wider audience and, owing to their natural stylistic maturity, have become more chic and sophisticated while maintaining those sexy and provocative traits so embedded in their creative roots. This evolution is also due to the continuous international inspiration received by Dean and Dan, who, while dividing their life and work between Milan and London, create their collections in Italy: “Born in Canada, living in London, made in Italy”.

DSquared2 Stores
In June 2007, the first DSquared2 flagship was opened in Milan’s fashion district. Stores have also opened in Capri, Istanbul, Kiev, Cannes, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Gisele Bundchen Is Soon To Become The World’s First Billionaire Model

According to Forbes Magazine, Gisele Bundchen is soon to become the world’s first billionaire model. Over the course of the last ten years Gisele has made approximately $215 million for her modeling work and campaigns. These ventures along with her various real estate investments are very likely to bring the model to the billionaire mark. It is safe to say that Gisele Bundchen puts the SUPER in supermodel.
When Gisele Bundchen comes to mind, many of us remember her as the drop-dead gorgeous Victoria’s Secret Angel. Gisele is without a doubt all of the above, but is also recognized as the face of many major designers, including Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Blvgari, and Christian Dior. Her most recent campaigns for H&M, Versace, and Inpanema flip-flop line are the most current major contributors to her rapidly growing income. In Brazil, she also has her own lingerie line in partnership with Hope called “Gisele Bundchen Brazilian Intimates” and a skincare line “Seeja Pure Skincare”.

Gisele’s modeling career began at age 14 in Sao Paulo, Brazil when she was discovered by an agency at a shopping mall in 1994. She grew up in Horizontina, Rio Grande do Sul, a town in the backcountry of Brazil mainly populated by German-Brazilians like herself. Originally, Gisele wanted to become a professional volleyball player and was often teased in school for being so skinny. Little did they know what the future had in store for the slender, blue-eyed, 14 year-old girl of Horizontina. After placing 2nd in the national contest and 4th in the world contest of Elite Look of the Year, Gisele left the backcountry and moved to New York City in 1996 to begin her modeling career.
1999 was an explosive year for Gisele’s modeling career as she appeared on the cover of Vogue Magazine July, November, and December and was voted VH1’s Vogue Model of the Year. In 2000 she appeared on the cover of Vogue Magazine yet again for three consecutive months and on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine naming her “the most beautiful girl in the world”. Since then Gisele’s face has graced the covers of hundreds of top fashion magazines, such as Elle, W, and Allure, as well as broader publications like GQ, TIME, Vanity Fair, and Forbes Magazine. Featured in over 600 magazines world-wide, it is no wonder Gisele has established herself as an international icon. The versatile supermodel has starred in advertising campaigns anywhere from Nivea Lotion to Christian Dior.
After acknowledging Gisele’s endless achievements it is no surprise that from 2009-2010 she earned an estimated 25 million making her the top earning supermodel and one of the most powerful celebrities in the world. Gisele uses her success and power to also give back to the world and is involved in numerous charity activities, including the I Am African Campaign helping to protect against HIV/AIDS, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and is a goodwill ambassador for UN Environment Programme, to name a few. Supermodel or billionaire, Gisele Bundchen’s modeling career, success, and charity involvement is very inspiring.

ZARZAR MODELS takes you backstage as the models get their hair and makeup done by the experts in the fashion industry. First, we focus on hair and how to make hair more beautiful. Sleek and tight ponytails were the trend at Aquilano Rimondi, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Elie Saab, and Prada. Models like Ruby Aldridge and Siri Tolorod talked about the looks done by top hair stylists like Guido Palau, Orlando Pita, and Sam McKnight. Braids, both tight and loose, were the “IT” look for hair at Emilio Pucci and Viktor & Rolf on models like Alana Zimmer and Anna Selzneva. Luigi Murenu talked about how he created the undone braid at Viktor & Rolf. Straight hair was the look at Versace and Blumarine and Marni kept it natural thanks to hair stylist Paul Hanlon.

Next, for makeup, fresh and young took precedence at Prada thanks to Pat McGrath, who also did the luxurious, but minimal makeup for Versace. Light pinks all over were prominent at No 21 and fresh creams on models like Candice Swanepoel at Elie Saab. Giambattista Valli’s makeup by Val Garland was tomboyish with a contour and Balmain showcased Tom Pecheaux’s stellar cosmetic looks including everything from thick mascara to lots of concealer on models like Carmen Kass and Constance Jablonski who make it look easy. Fendi and Dsquared2 go dramatic on the eyes, while Rick Owens focuses on the poppy lip.

This very interesting video features dozens of models including Ruby Aldridge, Siri Tolorod, Alana Zimmer, Anna Selezneva, Daphne Groeneveld, Candice Swanepoel, Carmen Kass, Constance Jablonski, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Karmen Pedaru, Nimue Smit, and Karlie Kloss.

Hair stylists featured were Guido Palau, Orlando Pita, Sam McKnight, and Luigii Murenu.
